Shirakawa

Local’s symbol Komine Castle restored after 120 years.

Area Map

Shirakawa
construction was restored exactly according to the drawing from Edo Period, and now the castle is the symbol of Shirakawa City. The castle is open for visitors for free, and the view from the three-story tower is refreshing. At the museum in the precincts, you can see many historical documents as well as valuable arts and crafts. Shirakawa is also known for the soba (buckwheat) noodle culture - it’s actually one of the four good soba producers in Japan with Shinshu, Izumo, and Morioka. Every soba restaurant has its unique recipe and taste, so you can enjoy a variety of taste.
