Nature, culture, hot springs, gourmet spots...
beautiful and attractive island of gods and flowers.

Area Map

Awaji Island
Awaji Island is an "island of gods" where the whole island is depicted as a treasure ship of the Seven Gods of Good Fortune, full of myths and traditional cultures. It is also famous as an 'island of flowers" with many large parks where you can enjoy an abundance of flowers throughout the year. Tufts of narcissuses, Keino Matsubara beach and Ejima will present you exactly the arts of nature. Awaji Island is a treasure box of a wide range of foods including animal products, vegetables and marine products - it used to be presenting a variety of foodstuffs to the Imperial Court for a long time. The foodstuffs are now well recognized as "Awaji Island Brand." The island is also famous for many good hot springs. Under the Onaruto Bridge that is connecting the island with the Shikoku Island, you can observe one of the three major tidal currents of the world, Naruto Strait. The maximum diameter of the whirling tides created by the clashing of multiple currents can reach 30 meters (98 ft.). It is said to be the largest whirling tides in the world.
