Takachiho-cho is located in the northern part of Miyazaki Prefecture. The town is said to be a stage of the Japanese myths, and there are a number of shrines enshrining many gods. The most famous Shinto ritual performed here is “Yokagura,” which offers songs and dances to gods for all night long. The Yokagura of Takachiho-cho is designated as a National Important Cultural Property. It is usually performed between November and February, but you can enjoy a representative Shinto dance every night at Takachiho Shrine. Takachiho is also known as a beautiful town of canyon and there are beautiful waterfalls in the Takachihokyo Ravine. You can take a rental boat and you can see them at close range. Just enjoy the magnificent power of the Takachihokyo Ravine.
