Area Map

Sengakuji Temple
"Forty-seven Ronin", a factious story based on a historical fact, is one of the most beloved stories among Japanese. In the story, forty-seven loyal retainers successfully take revenge on the enemy who made their master to hara-kiri. Sengakuji temple is the place where the loyal retainers and their master, Asano-takuminokami are buried. Even today many people visit the graveyard and offer flowers. The 47 ronin festival is held twice a year in spring and winter, and on December 14 (the anniversary of the avenge), 47 ronin parade is performed after the memorial service, attracting thousands of visitors. You can deepen your knowledge about the history and the story of the 47 ronin at the Memorial Hall.
