Mt. Daisen
A popular mountain, ranked the third in the popularity vote for The Best mountain of Japan, conducted by NHK, national TV station. It represents the natural beauty of Tottori as well as Tottori Sand Dunes. It is the third national park designated in 1936 and Oki Island was added to become the current Daisen Oki National Park. The 800-to-1300m altitude zone where vast birch woods are spreading, it is regarded the best place of its kind in Japan. Over-1600m-high, the woods of Daisen aloe woods can be seen, it is a symbol tree of Tottori Prefecture and is designated as a Special Natural Monument. From summer to fall, many climbers come to climb Mt. Daisen and in winter it turns to be the largest ski resort in West Japan. A welling of water there is regarded a godsend, one of the best water in Japan.
