Kiso Valley
Kiso Valley is located in the southeast part of Nagano Prefecture. Rough and rugged but breathtakingly beautiful landscape makes you feel the force of nature. Nezame-no-toko is especially a famous spot with an overwhelming view where large granites are carved out by the rapid stream of water over time. In Kiso Valley, the main road Nakasendo Highway cuts through the mountainous area. The highway connects the west and the east of Japan and many post towns remain at the roadside. Among them, Tsumago-Juku is a well preserved post town and you can see the historical townscape in those days. Kiso Valleyis a place you can enjoy the great nature and the history at the same time, attracting many tourists throughout the year.
