Kotohira town has developed as a temple town of Kotohira Shrine, aka Konpira-san. It has many sightseeing spots, the building of Scandinavian-style Kotohira Railway Station, which has been a gate to Kotohira town, was built in Taisho Period. Kotohira Town Hall, built in early Showa Period, is also a pride of Kotohira citizens. Other recommended spots includes; Science Museum of Sea with many high-tech facilities, beautiful Kotohira Park, and Kotohira Town Museum of History and Folklore where you can learn the history of Kanpira Kabuki. After the sightseeing, why don’t you try a local cuisine, Sanuki udon.
