Hyogo Area Map

Hyogo

Hyogo Prefecture is located almost at the center of Japan. The north coast is facing the Sea of Japan, and the south coast is facing the Inland Sea to Awaji Island and to the Pacific Ocean. You can enjoy bathing and marine sports at the Sea of Japan or Inland Sea in the summer, and skiing at Tajima or Kannabe in the winter. Many hot springs are scattered in the prefecture, including the oldest hot spring in Japan, Arima and Kinosaki. Yumura Onsen (hot spring) boasts a 1,200 years history, and one of the most famous high-temperature carbonate springs in Japan. You can enjoy the footbath and hot spring eggs, too. Hyogo Prefecture is a hot spring heaven where you can relax in the high quality hot spring and taste delicious, highest-class local foodstuff including Kobe beef and Tajima beef. There are many historic attractions including the World Heritage "Himeji Castle," too. The night view from the Mount Rokko and the Akashi-Kaikyo Ohashi Bridge lit brightly by floodlighting will give you a romantic scenery. The port town Kobe generates unique trends. You can also find numerous well-known shops for fashion and gourmet.
