Area Map

Yanaka retains an old town atmosphere reminiscent of Tokyo a couple of decades ago, as if you made a time travel. The main street of Yanaka is just a 170 meters long shopping street, Yanaka Ginza. The street that consists of approximately seventy stores is well known for its effort to retain the traditional scenery, and is crowded with many tourists in weekends. There are many traditional stores offering a variety of items including haberdashery, foods, bamboo craftworks, Japanese-style accessories and Edo folk crafts which could make the best souvenirs. You can take a rest and relax at some stylish cafes and Japanese confectionaries that serve traditional sweets including candies and karintou (fried brown sugar buiscuit) when you are tired of strolling around the area.
