Yonezawa
Yonezawa City is located at the south of Yamagata prefecture in Tohoku region. In the Warring States period the area was ruled by a famous warlord Date Masamune, also known as “One-eyed Dragon,” then by the Uesugi’s during the Edo period. South of the city is an area rich in nature with Azuma mountain range and many beautiful sightseeing spots including the Bandai Asahi National Park and the Waterfall of Namegawa River which is one of the one-hundred most beautiful waterfalls in Japan. Another attraction you can never miss is the Yonezawa Beef, a representative local gourmet food. The Japanese Black is one of the three best Japanese beefs together with Matsuzaka beef and Kobe Beef. There are many restaurants in the city where you can enjoy a variety of Yonezawa Beef dishes including steaks, Hamburg steaks, and sukiyakis.
