Area Map

Mt. Tsukuba rises behind the Kanto Plain and has been regarded as an object of worship. The mountain has two peaks, Mt. Mantai and Mt. Nyotai, literally mean a man’s body and a woman’s body. From Tsukuba Shrine located at the foot of the mountain to the mountain top, well-organized mountain paths are connected. Also cable car and ropeway services are available so everyone can go up the mountain with ease. On each peak, main shrines are seated and you can pray for the safety of your trip. On the way back it is recommended to walk on the mountain path -- more than one thousand species of plants and seasonal flowers are waiting for you.
