From the chef
Mr. Hayakawa is passing down the traditions of a historical, pre-war Tonericho restaurant inherited from his grandfather.
Mr. Hayakawa was born in Aichi. Tonbo was a traditional Japanese restaurant founded by his grandfather, Ichiemon Hayakawa, in what was once known as Nagoya's thriving entertainment quarter Tonericho (now Higashi-ku, Izumi 3-chome). Carrying on the traditions of that restaurant, he opened Tonerian Tonbo, his own Hida beef restaurant, in 2004. In 2016, the restaurant moved to its current location in Marunouchi 2-chome in Naka-ku. To this day he welcomes guest with his single minded devotion to Hida beef.
