Hirayama Ikuo, an eminent Japanese-style painter, was born in 1930 in Onomichi City, Hiroshima. As he had spent his childhood surrounded by the great nature of the Inland Sea, his great sensitivity of a painter was nurtured. His name is well known globally for his "Silk Road" series, but the museum exhibits his works from the childhood to the late in life, so you can easily learn not only how his painting style has changed, but also the changes what he saw and felt and how he expressed that on the canvas. It is recommended to take your time and carefully watch the works.
