Area Map

Kurashiki had been controlled by the Edo shogunate in the Edo period and developed as a trading spot for a raw cotton and rice. In the Meiji period, cotton-mills were built. Now the cotton-mills are renovated as a multi-purpose complex, Kurashiki IVY Square. It includes a hotel which was converted from the factory of Kurashiki cotton-mill and the design of which won many awards due to its novelty. The red-brick walls with entwined ivy are eye-catching and many facilities are available in the compound such as a workshop where you can experience a pottery-making, Kurabo Memorial Hall which exhibits the history of cotton industry, and Music Box Concert Hall. Wedding service is also available with a chapel and banquet hall. A restaurant and bar are also available.
