Area Map

Matsuyama castle is a historic castle which was built 400 years ago. It is located on the top of a 132m mountain, and the way between the summit and the foot is connected with ropeway/lifts for easier access. The donjon is built on the 161m summit and providing a great view of Matuyama city as well as the beautiful islands in the Inland Sea. When you are getting down from the summit, it’s a good idea to go on foot. The path is cut alongside the beautiful stone wall surrounding the castle - that’s exactly the same way and the view samurais saw when they walked up and down the mountain hundreds of years ago. You can soak up the imagination of samurai life in the castle.
