Area Map

Ryogoku Kokugikan is a place where the sumo tournament, one of the national sports of Japan, is regularly held. Three out of six regular sumo tournaments in a year are held at Ryogoku Kokugikan (January, May and September). Also there are many stables where sumo wrestlers live and train themselves are located here in Ryogoku, and it is not unusual to see them in the town. The training at each stable in the morning is open for viewing, so why don't you get up early and visit your favorite stable? You can learn the history of sumo at the Sumo Museum on the first floor of Ryogoku Kokugikan. It's free.
