Located in Sapporo's Nijo Market, often called the city's kitchen, the bright red building that stands out immediately is the crab restaurant Kani Kosen. It is directly operated by a long-established seafood processing company founded in 1970, and the restaurant was rebuilt and reopened in December 2025. Inside, live tanks are always stocked with crabs such as horsehair crab and king crab, allowing guests to enjoy exceptionally fresh seafood. The signature crab dishes can be enjoyed in a variety of preparations, including boiled, grilled, and sashimi, each highlighting the natural richness of the crab. A wide selection of seafood bowls is also available, with generous portions. Their rich and spicy "Crab tomalley Miso Ramen," made with crab tomalley, is also popular. Despite being located inside a market, the interior remains calm and clean, making this restaurant suitable for a wide range of occasions.
