In addition to its role as an international airport, now it is an important hub airport for many LCCs (low-cost carriers) covering all over Japan from Hokkaido to Okinawa. In 2015 a new terminal dedicated to LCCs will open with a capsule hotel and a food court. Using the new terminal as the hub, you can fly to anywhere around Japan with a reasonable cost. Also, a low-cost shuttle bus service is available. The shuttle bus connects Narita Airport and Tokyo Station in about an hour. The fare is as low as 1,000 JPY.
