The symbol of Zao town is Okama, a volcanic lake at the top of Mt. Zao. The color of it changes based on the weather conditions, like emerald green or sky blue. You can drive to a ten-minute distance from Okama, then walk to the lake. Each season has unique attractions; trees covered with hoar frost in winter, verdant green in spring, cool summer, and the changing color of mountains in fall.
