Miho Museum

Miho Museum, designed by a globally known, distinguished architect I. M. Pei, was opened at Sigaraki-cho, Shiga Prefecture, in 1997. In the middle of mountains, a unique space-frame structure is standing with a top-light-roof, limestone and colored concrete are used for the exterior to create a worm touch. 80% of the building is underground and has a futuristic appearance. The museum owns more than 2,000 of art collections from all over the world and always selects 200 to 300 items for exhibition. Three times a year special exhibition is held. The services like a gallery-talk show and storytelling show by volunteer staffs are very popular events and a cozy cafe is there.
