Freshly pounded mochi and amazing shabu-shabu. Ginza's new gourmet spot, with two completely different sides in the day and night
In February 2024, the owner of Ginza Kurosu opened a new restaurant, Ginza Mochifuji. Its name comes from the image of stretching mochi (rice cake), which resembles the expansive base of Mt. Fuji. At lunchtime, the restaurant specializes in serving ozoni (mochi soup) made with freshly pounded house-made mochi and seasoned with your choice of seasonings, such as white miso and chicken broth. At dinner, the restaurant turns into an underground bar where you can enjoy excellent shabu-shabu using Ibaraki's brand pork, Hitachi no Kagayaki, and carefully selected local sake from all over Japan. Recommended dishes here are "ozoni," which maximizes the texture and flavor of mochi, and "shabu-shabu," featuring flavorful pork. The interior is a warm Japanese-style space using wood and Japanese paper, providing a relaxing atmosphere that will make you forget the hustle and bustle of Ginza.
