Area Map

The Tsukiji Market is the largest market of marine products in Japan. The auctions start before dawn. At the area called "Uogashi Yokocho" (Fish-market back street), about 140 restaurants and tools shops are open for the workers as well as visitors. The area is always lively with full of people -- you can see long lines in front of some popular sushi restaurants. However, the market opens early in the morning and most of the shops/restaurants are closed before noon, so we suggest you to visit Tsukiji early in the morning. It is important to note that Tsukiji is a market of marine products, i.e., it's a workplace of many market workers so you have to behave as "a visitor" there.
