Shiga Kogen Highland is a place to enjoy many outdoor activities, such as trekking in summer, skiing and snowboarding in winter. The place is a grand-scale resort area surrounded by 2000 m-high mountains and more than 70 lakes are dotted in the highland. The lift and gondola services will help even novice climbers to make an easy access to mountain tops. Of course some courses are made for seasoned climbers. Shiga Kogen Ski Resort was the venue of Nagano 1998 Winter Olympic Games and now is a hot spot for winter sports. Many hotels and seven hot springs will give you a relaxed time after rigorous activities.
