Located at the southwest part in Wakayama prefecture, Shirarahama beach is a sister beach to Waikiki beach of Hawaii. The beach town is famous for the beautiful contrast of the transparent blue ocean and a quartz-white sandy beach. The start of the sea-bathing season is in the Golden week in May, many people are gathering for the fastest opening of the sea-bathing of a year in the nation. In summer, the beach is decorated with colorful parasols and tropical palm trees. Shirarahama is also famous as one of the three oldest hot springs together with Arima hot spring in Hyogo and Dogo hot spring in Ehime. You can enjoy a variety of hot springs everywhere in the town
