Many sake (Japanese alcohol) lovers gather in Fukuoka prefecture. Fukuoka is also attractive with its wide variety of local dishes which go well with sake. [Shobo-an] serves such exquisite luxurious local dishes, which go well with both [white rice] and [local sake]. First, about the rice. At lunch, they serve rice cooked in a large triad pot with brims. At dinner, they serve rice cooked in an earthenware pot per table. Second, about the sake. Enjoy various sake brands from all over Kyushu by ordering by name, or by ordering [Three-Assorted Kikizake (sake tasting) Set], which is their recommendation, to enjoy the savory sake available that day. 8. Niji-Hare

This restaurant has been well reviewed for its authentic Japanese cuisine served in a modern Japanese space. Seasonal dishes made with carefully selected ingredients sourced mainly from Kyushu welcome you here. The fish dishes are must-eat in particular. All dishes are prepared to maximize their ingredients, whether it be sashimi that can be ordered from a five type assortment, or grilled and stewed dishes. The specialty, [Beef Tongue Shabu-Shabu] with its richly flavored special soup is also a must-try dish. This restaurant is the perfect venue for hosting guests from out of town, celebrating a special occasion, or simply spending time with loved ones. Fresh squid sashimi, tempura, and the popular [Wrapped Vegetable Skewers] are available at restaurant Tomoshibi which recently opened nearby at Tosu Premium Outlet. Both restaurants are highly recommended.

9. Tomoshibi

Tomoshibi is located a minute's walk from Yayoigaoka Station. This restaurant focuses on ingredients from within the Kyushu area, including squid sourced directly from Yobiko and other local fishing ports. Inside a fish tank in the restaurant, squids are leisurely swimming so they can be prepared with maximum freshness. This means that you can enjoy the sweetness and umami flavor of fresh squid. There is a wine cellar located near the restaurant's entrance, and the Japanese sake served here is also recommended. Here guests can enjoy not just local Saga sake but carefully-selected sake from all over Japan. The counter is made with a solid piece of bubinga wood. It's beautiful, pale color and wood grain lends a sense of warmth.
