Despite being around a 30-minute walk away from Kita-Kamakura Station, it remains a popular spot that foodies will go out of their way to visit. The restaurant's interior features a relaxing view of a traditional Japanese courtyard garden which you may look upon while enjoying your meal. The restaurant serves orthodox French cuisine without any gimmicks alongside a selection of roughly 270 types of wine. The menu changes each season, but the [Poele of Golden Eye Snapper Bouillabaisse Style] is an example of one of their popular dishes.

This popular and stylish restaurant situated in the center of Kamakura, along the shrine approach leading up to the famous Tsurugaoka Hachimangu. Other than offering a wide selection of dishes such as the [Bagna Cauda] that use locally cultivated vegetables, the specialty of the restaurant, as suggested by its name, is their selection of rice bowl dishes. This popular wine bar, hidden away as a renovated traditional Japanese house, stands in a quiet alley. You'll find a staggering selection of 200 types of natural wine, all of which are only stocked after being rigorously and repeatedly examined by the owner himself. Alongside their incredible wine menu, you'll find dishes based on classical French cuisine, all of which use local ingredients including fresh vegetables and fish caught that morning. You might even find ingredients like the softshell turtle that are not commonly found in French cuisine. Of course, all this will only better complement the fantastic selection of wine.

With a homely atmosphere, this compact restaurant has only 16 seats. The owner of the restaurant who trained at the renowned Tsujitome and the second generation proprietor mainly serves kaiseki cuisine (traditional Japanese course cuisine with tea), which follows the flow of a traditional Japanese tea ceremony. The true spirit of Japanese hospitality can be felt in the flavor of the ingredients, the stunning plating of each dish, and the exquisite tableware. You can enjoy the sophisticated cuisine while gazing out at the beautiful scenery of Byakuro Pond (Byakurochi) of Engakuji Temple.

This is hands down one of the most popular French restaurants in the Kamakura area. Their popularity lies in their authentic course meals served at a lower price than you would expect, considering the quality. Some examples of the ingredients used here are local Kamakura-grown vegetables, foie gras, Yezo venison, and French Challans duck. A significant characteristic of the restaurant is their tendency to have each dish express the passing of the seasons casually. The open kitchen fills the interior of the restaurant with the sound and fragrance of food preparation, certainly an enjoyable experience. With many reasonably priced dishes, this is a spot that is worth a try.

This popular Italian restaurant has received high acclaim both in Japan and abroad. Within the relaxing interior, you'll be treated to cuisine prepared using local ingredients. Other than locally caught fresh seafood like whitebait from Enoshima and Japanese horse mackerel, they also use local Kamakura vegetables and local brand pork. Even though the menu changes each season, a great example of a dish you'll find here is the [Salad of Tomatoes from Fujisawa and Buffalo Mozzarella with Tomato Jelly]. A dish that both tastes and looks amazing. They specialize in Italian wine, and around 80 different types of wine are available at all times. They pay extra attention to their beef, offering some of the best breeds like Hayama beef, a Kuroge Wagyu (a type of high-quality cattle) breed from the local Hayama ranches, as well as Olive beef, raised on the remote Shodo Island (Shodo-shima) in Kagawa. In a comfortable, homey atmosphere, they offer about 80 types of dishes that are made to compliment the owner's favorite brands of sake (Japanese alcohol). Each morning, they procure the vegetables directly from Zushi and the seafood from the fisheries in the Miura area in Kanagawa. It's gathered a fair bit of popularity with its fresh sashimi and grilled and stewed fish dishes. This restaurant's specialty is sushi. You can enjoy local fish from Kanagawa's Sagami Bay (Sagami-wan) and carefully prepared vinegared rice directly sourced from local farmers in their assortments and seafood bowls. The chic and calming interior definitely adds to the dining experience.

Since its establishment in 1964, this Japanese cuisine restaurant continue to pursue authentic shojin cuisine (vegetarian cuisine of Buddhist monks). No animal products are used, and the restaurant lives by the creed of using only fresh natural ingredients. While carefully considering seasoning, ingredients and preparation methods, they aim to create shojin cuisine that even the modern foodie can enjoy. For example, the [Sesame Tofu], containing white sesame, kudzu powder, and water only, may seem humble at first glance. However, it is prepared meticulously, so that you may enjoy all the complex flavors of the ingredients. It's located near Tokei-ji Temple and Jochi-ji Temple, so if you're strolling around Kamakura, or on a tour of the old temples, you'll definitely have to stop by Hachinoki Kitakamakura Branch.
