This popular wine bar, hidden away as a renovated traditional Japanese house, stands in a quiet alley. You'll find a staggering selection of 200 types of natural wine, all of which are only stocked after being rigorously and repeatedly examined by the owner himself. Alongside their incredible wine menu, you'll find dishes based on classical French cuisine, all of which use local ingredients including fresh vegetables and fish caught that morning. You might even find ingredients like the softshell turtle that are not commonly found in French cuisine. Of course, all this will only better complement the fantastic selection of wine.

Their popularity lies in their authentic course meals served at a lower price than you would expect, considering the quality. Some examples of the ingredients used here are local Kamakura-grown vegetables, foie gras, Yezo venison, and French Challans duck. A significant characteristic of the restaurant is their tendency to have each dish express the passing of the seasons casually. The open kitchen fills the interior of the restaurant with the sound and fragrance of food preparation, certainly an enjoyable experience. Since its establishment in 1964, this Japanese cuisine restaurant continue to pursue authentic shojin cuisine (vegetarian cuisine of Buddhist monks). No animal products are used, and the restaurant lives by the creed of using only fresh natural ingredients. While carefully considering seasoning, ingredients and preparation methods, they aim to create shojin cuisine that even the modern foodie can enjoy. For example, the [Sesame Tofu], containing white sesame, kudzu powder, and water only, may seem humble at first glance.
