On June 19, 2025, in Turin, Italy, the 2025 edition of the "World's 50 Best Restaurants," sponsored by San Pellegrino & Acqua Panna, was announced, with Maido from Lima crowned as the No.1 "World's Best Restaurant." At the award ceremony held at Lingotto Fiere, culinary excellence across five continents and 22 regions was celebrated, and 10 new restaurants ranked within the top 50 from No.1 to No.50.

The World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2025

The restaurant that took the No.1 spot this time is the Japanese-Peruvian restaurant [Maido], led by owner-chef Mitsuharu “Micha” Tsumura. Rising from 5th place in 2024, it has jumped to the top. Known for blending Japan's delicate techniques with vibrant Peruvian ingredients, [Maido] offers a diverse course menu rooted in seasonality and cultural storytelling. From the warm greeting of "Maido!" to the last bite, it reflects over 15 years of innovation and dedicated commitment.

In the rankings, Spain's Asador Etxebarri in Achondo takes 2nd place, followed by Quintonil in Mexico City at 3rd.

The visionary duo from Osteria Francescana, Massimo Bottura and Lara Gilmore, were jointly awarded the "Woodford Reserve Icon Award" in recognition of their culinary innovation and social contribution activities.

Additionally, Maxime Frédéric of [Cheval Blanc Paris] and [Plénitude] (ranked 14th) received "The World's Best Pastry Chef Award," sponsored by Sosa. Mohamed Benabdallah of [Asador Etxebarri] was awarded "The World’s Best Sommelier Award" for his profound knowledge of wine and excellent pairings.

Furthermore, [Potong] in Bangkok (ranked 13th) received the "Highest New Entry Award," and [Ikoyi] in London (ranked 15th) received the "Highest Climber Award 2025," sponsored by Lee Kum Kee. [Celele] in Cartagena (ranked 48th) was recognized for its efforts in biodiversity and local culture preservation and received the "Sustainable Restaurant Award."
