The World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2025
In the rankings, Spain's Asador Etxebarri in Achondo takes 2nd place, followed by Quintonil in Mexico City at 3rd.

William Drew, Content Director of "The World's 50 Best Restaurants," stated the following:

Chef Mitsuharu and his team blend tradition with cutting-edge creativity to provide an unforgettable dining experience. This year's list truly celebrates a wide range of outstanding culinary talents and highlights the growing global recognition of excellence in diversity, creativity, and hospitality."
Four Japanese restaurants ranked within the top 50: Sézanne at 7th, Narisawa at 21st, Florilège at 36th, and La Cime at 44th. The top Japanese restaurant is Sézanne, led by Chef Daniel Calvert, demonstrating its strength in "The World's 50 Best Restaurants."

Additionally, Maxime Frédéric of [Cheval Blanc Paris] and [Plénitude] (ranked 14th) received "The World's Best Pastry Chef Award," sponsored by Sosa. Mohamed Benabdallah of [Asador Etxebarri] was awarded "The World’s Best Sommelier Award" for his profound knowledge of wine and excellent pairings.
Furthermore, [Potong] in Bangkok (ranked 13th) received the "Highest New Entry Award," and [Ikoyi] in London (ranked 15th) received the "Highest Climber Award 2025," sponsored by Lee Kum Kee. [Celele] in Cartagena (ranked 48th) was recognized for its efforts in biodiversity and local culture preservation and received the "Sustainable Restaurant Award."

Chugoku, on the southwest of Japan's main island, is rich with diverse produce. Many of its products are praised as Japan's best, including Matsuba crabs from Tottori and oysters from Hiroshima. Its pears and muscats are also top grade.
