On March 16, 2024, the Hokuriku Shinkansen line will be extended to Tsuruga Station, connecting Tokyo and Fukui in as little time as 2 hours and 51 minutes. The Shinkansen stations of Awaraonsen, Fukui, Echizen-Takefu, and Tsuruga will open in Fukui Prefecture, making the trip to Hokuriku more accessible. Fukui - Fukui French Aujus - French Cuisine
A French restaurant where you can enjoy the beauty of Fukui with all your senses.
Fukui French Aujus is a French restaurant located in the Hotel Riverge Akebono, a 10-minute walk from Fukui Station. You will be greeted with a variety of dishes, based on the theme of "delicious and gorgeous Fukui," that are visually appealing as well as delicious. While preserving the traditions of French cuisine, the menu makes the most of meat and fish from Fukui Prefecture and seasonal ingredients such as vegetables, offering dishes that can only be found here.
The setting has been designed to incorporate Fukui's famous landmarks and traditions, including Echizen Japanese paper, decorative screens inspired by the layered petals of cherry blossoms floating on the surface of the Asuwa River, and sofas reminiscent of Mt. Haku. The atmosphere is not ostentatious but graceful and relaxing. Private rooms for up to 4 or 8 people are also available. We recommend this restaurant for groups or families traveling together.

When you pass through the curtain and gently open the wooden door, a warm, refined setting unfurls before your eyes. Mooma is located on the first floor of a building near the Fukui Prefectural Government Office, a 15-minute walk from Fukui Station. The menu is casual during the day, and French cuisine is mainly offered as set menus at night. The restaurant uses vegetables grown in Fukui Prefecture with fewer agricultural chemicals and fish that has been euthanized to preserve its freshness and flavor. All of the broth and sauces are made by hand using traditional techniques, resulting in refined dishes.
The restaurant's chic interior is gently illuminated by stylish lights and is devoid of showy decor. In addition to counter seating where you can enjoy your time alone, the restaurant has cozy table seating where you can enjoy your meal as you wish. The wine lineup mainly includes natural wines from France. An affordable lunch menu and a set menu with dessert (must be reserved the day before) are also perfect for meals on your trip.

Teatro, which means "theater" in Italian, is a trattoria [a rustic local restaurant] where the food and atmosphere are meant to be enjoyed as if you were past of the audience. The menu is full of dishes that have attracted many repeat customers, such as Roman-style Pizza with an attractive crispy texture, spaghetti Bolognese laden with a special sauce, and Paella with delicious flavor seeping from the generous helping of seafood.
