The countless attractive Italian courses offered here provide an opportunity to experience a tradition of "mamma's cooking" from the famous "Dal Pescatore", which has been further polished by Mr. Murayama's own unique improvisations. 2. TOKYO DREAM Meguro Station Branch

Tokyo Dream is a restaurant serving Asian ethnic cuisine located on the 1st floor of Meguro Central Square, just in front of Meguro Station. The restaurant is the 4th branch of the Indian restaurant "Hira", whose main branch is located in Ginza. Contrary to the main branch's white theme, a brown-themed interior adorns the posh, gorgeous atmosphere. The restaurant is notable for its authentic Indian cuisine, as well as its Thai cuisine made by a Thai native chef. The restaurant offers a rich selection of various ethnic dishes from both cultures, and all these authentic flavors are offered at very reasonable prices. Between the Indian [Curry Set] served with some exquisite naan and traditional Thai dishes such as Thai stir-fried noodles and Thai rice, you'll undoubtedly be hard-pressed to make a decision on what to eat.

3. LOWER EAST

Lower East is causal Italian restaurant situated near the West Exit of Meguro Station. The interior is a cross between an Italian ristorante and a bar, and adults looking to drop in without the formality of standard table seating will likely be drawn by the emphasis on counter seats. The menu on any given day consists of course options improvised daily based on carefully selected ingredients, and the exquisite pastas made by the seasoned hands of the head chef are all highly recommended. Though the restaurant's dining bar atmosphere is perfect for evenings, they also offer a lunch menu as well. On Monday and Saturday, the restaurant offers a weekly special pasta lunch, while between Tuesday and Friday, there is a daily special one-plate lunch. 4. Hong Kong En

Hong Kong En is a restaurant serving Sichuan and Shanghai cuisine located a little ways down Gyoninzaka after exiting from the West Exit of Meguro Station. With a history of 65 years since its founding, the interior has the dignified presence of a lounge in a longstanding high-end establishment. The restaurant is on the 1st floor while the 2nd floor is a banquet hall, and the 3rd floor consists of private rooms, providing flexible options for various occasions and party sizes. You can't go wrong with any of the sets offered on the course menu, where there are bevy of authentic Chinese dishes to choose from. Namely, the [Peking Duck] and the [Shark Fin Savory Egg Custard] carry the tradition of a flavor honed for 65 years in the highly competitive Meguro area. 5. CERTO! Meguro Branch

Certo is an Italian bar located on the 2nd floor of a building overlooking the roundabout outside of the East Exit of Meguro Station, where you can enjoy Italian home cooking with brick-oven baked pizzas and specialty pastas along with a nice glass of wine. The use of wood in many of the walls, floor, and tables create an ambient atmosphere similar to that of a traditional bar in Italy. Though the various meal courses prominently cater to drinking parties and wedding after-parties, there is also a large selection of choices available on the lunch menu as well. Between 9 kinds of Japanese hamburger sets, 4 different kinds of pasta sets, 4 pizza sets, and a dry aged-beef lunch, you won't be at a loss for variety. The restaurant gets its name from the Italian phrase "Certo!" which means "with pleasure!" Like the restaurant's namesake, the staff that work the floor are very approachable and friendly. Located just a little ways into Meguro-dori just by Meguro Station, Delasser offers a colorful assortment of original vegetable dishes. While the interior offers an at-home atmosphere, the mellow ambience also offers an air of elegance. The restaurant's unique and creative menu is popular for its many dishes which are served with generous servings of organic vegetables. The ceramic tableware are said to have been crafted by the chef himself, providing a spectacular visual presentation to go along with a palette pleasing meal. One of the dishes which exemplifies Delasser is the [Smoked Jumbo Scallops with A Variety of 8 Different Marinated Vegetables]. Megro dining is a 7-minute walk from Meguro Station, and the lively setting of the restaurant is the perfect place to have an enjoyable experience with some delicious Italian food. The highly creative dishes each present a different kind of novelty while also being arranged in an aesthetically impactful manner. The restaurant sports a theme of "fun Italian food", and the gregarious members of the staff make it easy to have a pleasant conversation or two while enjoying your meal. 12. Trattoria Ciaoro

At Trattoria Ciaoro, you will find quality dishes with a focus on Italian homemade cooking, prepared by an Italian trained chef. The fundamental flavors of the authentic Italian courses are nothing short of exquisite. At Trattoria Ciaoro, the chef takes pride in the cooking methods he learnt in Italy, as well as the use of a Binchoutan (charcoal used in Japanese cooking) to prepare different dishes. The [Homemade Focaccia] is reputed to be extremely delicious. Otherwise, the [Manila Clam and Aonori Cream Pasta], the [Octopus and Celery Oil Pasta], the [Bacon and Mushroom Cream Sauce Pasta], and the [Lasagna] are all great choices as well. The lunch menu is extremely budget friendly, and a set including pasta, salad, focaccia, and a drink only costs 1,000 JPY! One of the caveats of being in Meguro is being able to find casual settings like Trattoria Ciaoro to enjoy authentic Italian food.

13. Fujishiro

Fujishiro offers both ramen and tsukemen (cold noodles served with dipping sauce) made in their one-of-a-kind soup. Having trained not only at a famous ramen restaurant, but also as an Italian and French chef, the owner of Fujishiro will settle for nothing less than what he deems to be truly delicious. With improvisations such as the addition of roast beef to a chicken bone broth, the soup is a heavenly combination of rich flavor and delicious-smelling fragrance. Be sure to try the [Tori Baitan Ajitama Ramen], served in a thick white chicken bone broth soup with a flavorful soft boiled egg marinated in soy sauce and mirin (a sweet Japanese sake). The straight, thin noodles match perfectly with the soup made without any artificial additives. The toppings are also one of the restaurant's attractive points. Toppings such as the restaurant's specialty chashu, simmered mushrooms, and seasoned boiled eggs can be added for 100-200 JPY, and go perfectly with the ramen.

Located just a 2-minute walk from Meguro Station on the 1st floor of the Megroad building, Anna's kitchen is a restaurant serving Okinawan home cuisine run by a proprietress who is from Miyako-jima, Okinawa. The various Okinawan dishes are made using many ingredients directly shipped from Miyako-jima, from traditional dishes such as Okinawa soba (buckwheat noodles) to original creations that the proprietress concocted with the chef such as the [Small Pickled Fish with Tomatoes] and the [Okinawa Sea Grape Tempura]. 15. Fuku no Hana Meguro Branch

How about a lunch made with large helpings of fresh ingredients from the Yamaguchi prefecture at an izakaya (Japanese pub) sound? Fuku no Hana is very particular about the ingredients they use, and the poultry dishes they make using a broiler raised with double the amount of time alotted to typical chickens known as the [Choshu Kurokashiwa] are absolutely delectable. [The Salt Grilled Chicken] and [Salted Fried Chicken with Plenty of Green Onions] are lunch options served with as many servings of rice and miso soup as you like. They are also served with [Shiso and Seaweed Rice Seasoning] from Hagi (a city known for their rice seasoning in the Yamaguchi prefecture), allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the different flavors unique to Yamaguchi. Kyu is located conveniently in a spot just a 3-minute walk from Meguro Station, and offers Japanese cuisine prepared with select ingredients in a casual setting. The [Extravagant Luncheon Serving] (requires a reservation/2,000 JPY) is a slightly high-end option giving you an opportunity to try out seasonal vegetables and fish. The course consists of an assortment of 3 small side dishes, shirasu (young sardines) and hijiki (a brown sea vegetable) salad, 3 types of sashimi, Avo pork (a high-end breed of pig from the Chiba prefecture) grilled in ginger, white rice or fermented brown rice, miso soup, and dessert. San Marino is the 1st restaurant in Japan conceptualized after the Republic of San Marino in Italy, which is the 5th smallest country in the world. 19. Sakaba Jiro

Sakaba Jiro incorporates the age-old tastes of the nostalgic "Taishuu Sakaba" (a Japanese saloon). However, being situated in the Meguro, the atmosphere doesn't just settle for being retro, but also has a chic atmosphere with a woody feel. Though the place is an izakaya, they are actually open on weekdays from 11:30 am - 2:30 pm for lunch. There are 3 options for the "izakaya lunch" menu: the [Tempura Set] (950 JPY), [Deep Fried Shrimp Set] (1,200 JPY), and the [Deep Fried Chicken Set] (1,000 JPY).
