2. Wa Bistro TORETATE (Italian)
This casual bistro serves dishes that transcend the boundaries of Japanese and Western cuisine. Their famous dish is the [Sangen-ton no Kakuni (1,280 JPY plus tax)] (simmered pork belly). The branded Sangen-ton (Sangen pork) from Chiba is slowly stewed for 2 days to create this gem of a dish. 4. Organic Cafe Atataka na Osara (Cafe)
The numerous healthy and delicious dishes offered at Organic Cafe Atataka na Osara are a big hit with diners. The restaurant is even certified by the Vegetable Sommelier Association. Located right in front of Inokashira-koen Station, BIANCARA focuses on vin naturel (natural wine). On one wall in the wine bar, you'll see a display of 150 or so wine bottles, a representation of the wines that the owner has examined. The [Octopus and Shallots Marinated in Mediterranean Style] is a popular dish that goes well with the wine. 7. Boulangerie Bistro EPEE (French)
Located in a renovated old warehouse, this French restaurant stands out for its stylish interior. The chef's recommended menu item is the [Freshly Sliced Raw Ham Assortment (1,650 JPY plus tax)]. The sweetness and the excellent texture of the dish make it a perfect match with a bit of baguette. 8. SubLime Inokashira Koen Branch (Seafood Izakaya)
Located in a corner of Inokashira Park and surrounded by nature, this izakaya (Japanese pub) is a great place to enjoy Japanese cuisine. Gaze out of the large windows to enjoy the greenery and take your time with your meal. Uohide is located around a 5-minute walk from Kichijoji Station. At this izakaya, you can find dishes made from delicious seasonal fish. At this creative Japanese cuisine restaurant, Daisen-dori (Daisen Chicken), a branded chicken from Tottori Prefecture, is made into numerous dishes you will find absolutely delectable. The fat content and the meat's umami of Daisen-dori is exquisitely balanced and full of meat juices. 11. Uohide Zen (General Izakaya)
This restaurant is the sister restaurant to Uohide, a popular fresh seafood izakaya. Uohide Zen is located near the South Exit of Kichijoji Station. You have to try their charcoal-grilled dishes. [Salt Grilled Yamaguchi Nodoguro (2,590 JPY)] is a dish that really brings out the sweetness that the premium nodoguro (rockfish) is known for. It also goes great as a light bite with some sake (Japanese alcohol). The [Oyster and Kombu Grilled in Soy Sauce (890 JPY)] is a lovely mix of the lightly grilled oyster and flavorful kelp. Kissho Ginza Main Branch is a famous restaurant for Japanese food, and this is their Kichijoji branch. The [Sawara no Kenchin - Seasonal Grill (market price)] is highly recommended, and their creative modern Japanese dishes, as exhibited by it, are distinctive and well received by foodies. The menu also features [Shabu-shabu], a classic Japanese dish in which meat is passed through hot dashi (broth) and eaten. Opened some 30 years ago, this popular Spanish restaurant serves up dishes made from ingredients imported directly from Spain as well as seasonal Japanese produce. Don’t miss their [Valencia Paella (1,780 JPY plus tax per person)]. This dish was awarded a special prize by an adjudicator in a global Spanish cuisine competition. The ingredients are a great representation of the bounties of the mountains. 14. Iseya Sohonten (General Izakaya)
When you're in the mood for some working-class yakitori (grilled chicken skewer) and drinks around the Kichijoji area, Iseya Sohonten is the place to go. This is a casual, comfortable izakaya that's popular with the locals. Order the reasonably priced items like the [Yakitori (from 90 JPY)], [Nikomi (350 JPY)] (stewed innards), and [Homemade Shumai (360 JPY)] (Chinese dumplings). It's a great way to fully enjoy Japanese izakaya culture and food. The [Gatsu Sashi (350 JPY)] is also recommended by the regular customers.
