"Azabudai Hills," a project involving the Mori Building, opened on November 24, 2023. Among gourmet enthusiasts, the discussion about "what kind of restaurants will be featured" had been a hot topic even before the opening, eagerly anticipated by many. From the total of 150 tenants housed in the facility, we'll highlight some of the dining establishments introduced during the preview event held on November 20. (Note: While the facility officially opens on November 24, individual tenants will open gradually. For details, please inquire directly with each store.)
"Azabudai Hills" is conceived with the concept of a "Modern Urban Village—a city enveloped in green, like a 'plaza' connecting people." The city aims to promote a lifestyle where people live in harmony with nature, aspiring to be healthy and prosperous both physically and mentally. Spanning approximately 8.1 hectares of extensive planning, the area features an impressive 24,000 square meters of greenery. Within the total floor area of around 861,700 square meters, diverse urban functions such as offices, residences, commercial facilities, cultural institutions, educational facilities, and medical institutions are integrated. The overarching theme is "Green & Wellness," encouraging a balanced and health-conscious way of life amid a lush, green environment.
"Azabudai Hills" is situated adjacent to Ark Hills, positioned between Roppongi Hills and Toranomon Hills. It comprises seven buildings, including the main tower, Azabudai Hills Mori JP Tower, standing at a height of approximately 330 meters. The other structures include Azabudai Hills Residences A and B, as well as Garden Plaza A to D.
Aligned with the overall theme of "Green & Wellness," Azabudai Hills encompasses approximately 150 stores offering fashion, food, beauty, culture, art, wellness, and more, all within an environment surrounded by abundant greenery in the heart of the city. It proposes a rich lifestyle where residents, workers, and visitors can enjoy not only shopping but also new experiential values. Underground in the "Central Square," a large-scale food market called "Azabudai Hills Market" has been established, boasting around 4,000 square meters. Through carefully selected ingredients, Tokyo's rich culinary culture, and the promotion of delicious and healthy lifestyles, the market aims to provide essential richness and joy in the essence of food.
On the intriguing dining floor, top-class restaurants from various genres, representing Japan on a global scale, have gathered.
Firstly, “Florilège” has relocated from Gaienmae, and the popular Spanish restaurant “aca° (tentative name)”, which moved from Kyoto's Karasuma-Oike to Tokyo's Nihonbashi, has opened a new establishment. Also, a new café and dining concept from the well-known Shibuya restaurant and bar, "Sta.azabudai," and a restaurant from a Thai cuisine establishment, “Krung Siam," promoting initiatives related to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), have opened.
Additionally, there are new establishments such as “AZABUDAI TORISHIKI," a new branch of Torishiki, and a deli featuring popular items from Yazawa Meat, known for restaurants like Meat Yawaza and Yakiniku Jumbo Shirogane, named “PARLOR YAZAWA." Moreover, the highly acclaimed international restaurant “Pizza 4P's Tokyo," awarded in competitions like "Essence of Asia" and "Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants," has made its debut in Japan.
There's also a factory-attached concept, “ÉCHIRÉ L'Atelier du Beurre,” themed as the Butter Atelier by the renowned "Echire," and a chocolate specialty shop called Minimal. Additionally, they have opened Minimal The Specialty, offering comparisons of chocolates with drinks like Japanese sake, Japanese tea, and specialty coffee. The cafe options are diverse and enrich the overall experience.
Each tenant is scheduled to start operations sequentially, with the grand opening on November 24th. Leading the way, the British School in Tokyo will open on August 30th, and on November 6th, the Keio University Preventive Medicine Center will commence providing examinations. Additionally, the hotel "JANU Tokyo," a sister brand to "Aman," is set to open this winter. Azabudai Hills Market and Mori Building Digital Art Museum: Epson TeamLab Borderless are scheduled for late January 2024, while some stores, including luxury brands, are expected to open in February 2024.
From now on, we are going to introduce some standout restaurants highlighted during the preview event on November 20th.
French Cusine [Florilège] Garden Plaza D / 2F
Although it was not possible to see during the preview event on November 20th, we conducted an interview with Hitosara (Savor Japan's Japanese site) in September. This establishment also had its grand opening on November 24th. Having relocated from Gaienmae and conceived over many years by Chef Hiroyasu Kawate, it is a French restaurant following a table-dot style, where all guests gather around one large table. In this space where you can enjoy meals while engaging in conversations with the chef and staff, the restaurant embraces "plant-based" cuisine, actively incorporating plant-derived ingredients. The emphasis on sustainability allows guests to indulge in beautiful dishes and wines.
Sosaku (creative) Cuisine [Sta.azabudai] Garden Plaza B / B1F
The theme of this cafe and dining establishment is meals that incorporate a bit of innovation into traditional Japanese home cooking. From daytime to evening, it's a place you'd want to visit for various occasions. The menu features dishes meticulously prepared by chefs, registered dietitians, and food stylists, with a focus on using additive-free ingredients, starting with seasonings. You can find popular weekly bento options, side dishes like rice flour-fried chicken, and take-out options for sweets, among other choices.
Tonkatsu [Tonkatsu Kawamura] Garden Plaza B / B1F

Using carefully selected breadcrumbs, frying oil, and high-level culinary techniques, you can savor the top-quality meat brought to its most delicious state. Popular choices include the limited menu item, the Menchikatsu set meal, as well as sets allowing you to enjoy both loin and fillet at the same time.
Cafe [%Arabica Tokyo] Garden Plaza B / B1F and Tower Plaza 4F
A specialty coffee brand started by a Japanese owner in Hong Kong in 2013 and opening its flagship store in Kyoto in 2014 has made its first appearance in Tokyo. The interior of the store, equipped with roasting machines, showcases bakery items perfect for breakfast. The store, located on the B1F of Garden Plaza B, directly connects to the Kamiyacho subway station, making it a convenient spot for various occasions, such as grabbing a cup during the commute.
Sweets [HISAYA KYOTO] Garden Plaza B / 2F
This is the lounge of "Hisaya," a chestnut specialty store originating from Kyoto. The space is designed for both individuals and large groups, offering a casual yet high-quality dining experience.
Thai Cuisine [SAAWAAN BISTRO] Tower Plaza 3F
This is the first shop in Japan by the one-Michelin-starred modern Thai restaurant, "SAAWAAN," representing Bangkok. It's a serene and sophisticated space that invites various occasions, such as meeting before a meal or spending a moment after dining—a place where enthusiasts can gather and unwind.
Sushi [Sushi Azabu] Tower Plaza 3F
This is the main branch of the authentic Edomae sushi restaurant "AZABU," which has been awarded one Michelin star in New York, Manhattan, and Florida, Miami Beach.
