Since it was his first visit, he ordered the "Pork Shakti Curry," which was listed first on the menu. True to the restaurant's name, the curry served on the plate looked as if it was held by surface tension. From the first bite, the curry's flavor brought a smile, with a complexly blended masala that invigorated him from the inside out. The pork was tender and exquisite. He felt the chef's dedication to research in this wonderful curry restaurant. The small restaurant, mainly with counter seats, was quiet and perfect for those who want to savor their meal slowly. Although there were few seats, customers were always visiting, showing its popularity rooted in the local community.
2. Eating Dancer Ueda [Spice Curry 6 Hours]
![2. Eating Dancer Ueda [Spice Curry 6 Hours]](https://rimage.savorjapan.com/svj/image/discover_oishii_japan/6621/article_367303_w640z.jpg?t=1753251468)

First, one can enjoy the fusion of spices and Japanese flavors that each curry showcases, and in the latter half, challenge oneself to blend with the other curries. Added to this are side dishes like quail eggs and pickled onions. Especially, the refreshing pickled onions serve as an excellent accent for changing the flavor and resetting the palate. They make you want more! It would be great if they were always available on the table... While feeling comforted by the familiar Japanese aspect within the authentic spices, as one continues eating, the accumulating spiciness and rising body temperature give a sense of energy to get through the hot summer.
3. Light-footed Adult Woman Suzu [Harudamon Curry]

Recommended for those who want to enjoy both curry and bistro dishes is the "Lunch Course" (4,500 yen), which includes two appetizers, a main dish, a curry of choice, and a post-meal drink. Considering the volume and content, the restaurant risks selling below cost, and the chef smiles wryly saying, "I can't stop because it makes customers happy." As the name "French Dining" suggests, it is a special restaurant where guests can enjoy a relaxed and unpretentious dining experience.
5. The lively Edo native, Shima [Tsuki to Kame]

There are four types of this "Fukagawa Curry Set Meal" in total. On this occasion, they ordered the "Chicken Curry Set Meal" with an additional curry of the day, "Lamb and New Burdock Curry." The spiced "Chicken Curry" has a subtle coconut flavor that highlights the umami of the chicken, while the "Lamb and New Burdock Curry" features a perfect balance of root vegetable aroma and the richness of lamb. Moreover, when these are mixed and eaten together, the combination of distinct curries creates a depth of flavor that further stimulates the appetite. This carefully prepared Japanese-style "Meals," made without chemical seasonings, leaves the stomach feeling light even after eating. It is a recommended curry restaurant to get through the intense summer heat.
6. Generation Z Nakazono, who loves brown gourmet food [Roman Kitchen, a restaurant with adventurous-scented beef tendon curry]

The ordered dish was the signature menu item, the "Beginning Adventure Curry." The roux has a mild spiciness but offers an authentic flavor with well-balanced spices, perfectly matching the rice mixed with butter. By adding the spicy seasoning "Strange Powder" available on the table, customers can adjust the spiciness to their liking. The slowly simmered beef tendon is tender enough to melt in the mouth. The eye-catching topping of turnip is carefully roasted, allowing one to enjoy the original umami and texture of the ingredient.
7. Back Alley Gourmet Shimokita Area - Kawabata [Curry Spice Gelateria KALPASI]
![7. Back Alley Gourmet Shimokita Area / Kawabata [Curry Spice Gelateria KALPASI]](https://rimage.savorjapan.com/svj/image/discover_oishii_japan/6621/article_367314_w640z.jpg?t=1753252477)

The one-plate dish featuring four types of curry and five kinds of side dishes is visually stunning. Each ingredient uses a different combination of spices, offering a variety of aromas, spiciness, sweetness, and sourness, creating a deep and complex flavor with every bite. At the end, mixing everything together creates a mysteriously exquisite fusion of tastes to enjoy. Another must-try specialty is the spice gelato (two kinds for 500 yen). This restaurant allows guests to fully enjoy the creative world of spices through both curry and gelato.

The interior is a small space with only seven counter seats, and it often forms a line during lunchtime. It is suitable for those who like the lineage of Delhi and Bombay.
9. Former TV Producer Nakano [Asian Dining Yummy]

The spiciness can be chosen from five levels, and since he is not good with spicy food, he opted for the mild flavor. The butter chicken curry is mild, with just a slight spicy aftertaste from the spices. The spinach curry, filled with plenty of spinach, has a thick texture that leaves a strong impression. Both curries contain about three large, tender chicken pieces, making them very satisfying. Finally, the awaited matcha cheese naan perfectly balances the saltiness of the cheese, the sweetness of the naan, and the bitterness of the matcha, complementing the curry without overpowering it, making it addictive.
10. Gold License Terami [Samezu Driver's License Examination Center Restaurant]
![10. Gold License Terami [Samezu Driver's License Examination Center Restaurant]](https://rimage.savorjapan.com/svj/image/discover_oishii_japan/6621/article_367320_w640z.jpg?t=1753252481)

Bright red fukujinzuke pickles, glossy white rice, and a thin curry sauce filled with chunks of pork make one want to say, "This is the curry rice I wanted to eat, this is it!" Although it lacks the visual appeal for SNS or any particular distinctive features, it is a nostalgic flavor that one never tires of eating every day. With a cost performance of 650 yen, a serving speed of about 15 seconds, it is a national dish curry rice that combines cheap, fast, and delicious. While it may not be something people go out of their way to eat, for me, it is a secret pleasure every five years when renewing my license.
